Golden Opportunities Partnership to benefit local communities across Australia
Job Centre Australia Limited (JCAL) is proud to announce the expansion of their long term partnership with McDonald’s Australia, which to date has seen over 600 people living with a disability, employed in McDonald’s restaurants throughout regional and suburban NSW, QLD and VIC.
The Golden Opportunities program has been developed in conjunction with McDonald’s Australia, earning JCAL preferred supplier status and will work toward delivering a planned nationwide rollout, via a network of selected Disability Employment Service (DES) providers.
As a result of the work to date, JCAL and the Golden Opportunities program have received international recognition, with an invitation to attend the McDonald’s International conference in Orlando, Florida in April 2016, to showcase the innovative and highly successful workplace diversity program. This is an exciting time for JCAL and the communities they aim to reach, providing the connections and support to achieve positive employment outcomes, with one of Australia’s largest and well-known employers.
McDonald’s Australia Chief People officer, Cathy Doyle commented, “McDonald’s has led the way in creating opportunities for workplace diversity. We have a long term commitment to the recruitment of people with a disability and have partnered with Job Centre since 2010. We are really excited to be a part of this expansion and look forward to the long term success of the program, creating Golden Opportunities for potential employees across the country.”
With over 110,000 staff nationwide, McDonald’s are in a unique position to make a significant contribution via their commitment to workplace diversity supporting their “Good Neighbour” vision. JCAL is proud to partner with McDonald’s to realise their vision and bring to the table 26 years of industry experience, a person centred focus, and a solid ethos as a community based, not for profit organisation.
JCAL CEO Brian Yates commented, “With the NDIS (National Disability insurance Scheme) rolling out over the next few years – the partnership with McDonald’s gives us the opportunity to assist disadvantaged Australians through NDIS and DES, including those in regional areas, giving them a chance to contribute to their communities through work”.
To realise and achieve the ambitious goals of Golden Opportunities on a broader scale, JCAL will be seeking support of government to enable the continued rollout of Golden Opportunities nationally.
